It's always better to be spontaneous

After frying like a potatoe on the beach all day, there was one place I really wanted to take the girls, the Dubai Marina. So we glammed ourselves up and headed out (not before larking around and taking a few cringey pictures of course)

We have a strange obsession with pitta and humous...

Yeaaaaah buddy, guess who's the darkest ;)

In my opinion the Marina is the most beautiful magical place to visit on a night. The skyscraper buildings tower high into the sky, lighting up the harbour. The yachts pull in and anchor up, allowing passers by to 'ooh' and 'ahhh' at the vast size and luxuriosness of them. Along the marina there are numerous restaurants and café's to eat at, looking onto the beautiful scenary. But being true british girls can you guess where we chose to eat? Nando's of course!

Charlie was a bit too hungry before snapping away at her meal

And we discovered, as you can see from this photo, i'm really not a big fan of spicy foods... (I don't care what anyone says, that sweetcorn was spicy!)

After my mouth had been deliciously set on fire, we strolled alongside the motorboats and yachts, dreaming of becoming rich enough to someday own one. We then stumbled upon my fave ice-cream shop, Baskin' and Robbbins, how could we say no?

Splashing around in the fountains with our ice creams, which was actually rather refreshing

We decided to act like grown-ups and take some nice ones

It was 10.30 (and like the little old grannies we truly are) we were planning on heading home, but something caught our eye...

An hour-long cruise on this boat, for only 60AED (approx £10)? Go on then...

The views looking back onto land were incredible to say the least...

I do have travel sickness, me and boats normally don't get along too well, so I'm not gonna lie, I was a little apprehensive, but I didn't feel sea sick at all, I was probably distracted by the beautiful surroundings! What an amazing end to a wonderful night.

But the fun didnt stop there...

We had possibly the funniest taxi driver in the world on the journey back, his name was Mohammed. This is good old Mohammed here...

Why do we have a photo of him you may ask? Long story, but we were basically trying to explain to him what a 'selfie' was and yeah, we ended up taking one of him, he was such a funny little man.

Here we are, loving his company

Such a funny end to a wonderful night.

Shakespeare's

Shakespeare's is a beautiful chain of café's scattered across Dubai. Everything is pastel coloured; lilac, duck egg blue and dusty pink. The walls are covered in vintage photo frames and each chair and table is unique, all fitting in with the french boudoir theme, its simply magnificent.

We took a fair while deciding what to order, everything looked too delicious!

I eventually chose the lemon and sugar pancake...

It's making my mouth water just uploading these pictures!

Ellen opted for a chicken sandwich with fries

Nina had the chicken burger

Charlie had the chicken salad

Can you tell we like chicken? Haha.

After polishing off every scrap of our main we turned our thoughts to the desserts menu. I can honestly say hands down, this is the most impressive selection of desserts I have ever seen, choosing just one was torture!

I think its fair to say we felt leaving extremely full and satisfied, if however extremely guilty for over indulging, but that's what holiday's are for right?

Girls in Dubai - Day 2

This didnt last long as we all got very hot, very quickly. So we headed over to the park onto the swings, mucked about in the sand and climbed the climing frames... would you believe we're all actually 19?!

Nina spotted a very good climbing tree, she has a very strange obsession with trees, give her an interesting tree and she will climb it for hours.

Spot the Nina?

Go Karting anyone?

There are little bridges going across the river, which you can drive up on the go karts, but be warned, these are not for the weak hearted, in 45 degree heat pedalling up a hill is not an easy thing to do, as Ellen discovered! But the view of the waterfall at the top is definitely worth it.

Ellen, happy to be back on flat land!

After tiring ourselves out go karting around everywhere we decided it was time to head back to the villa and start getting ready for the night's meal. We had decided to take a trip to the Dubai Marina, and mum had discovered some 2 for 1 vouchers for us on Groupon for a quay side Italian meal at a resteraunt called 'Carlos', so we dolled ourselves up a little and headed off.

Non-alcoholic beer...

For starters I ordered the Tomato and Mozzorella Salad.

Followed by... a margherita pizza, boring I know! But it was sehr yummy.

Ellen opted for chicken, mushroom and peas pasta.

There are unfortunately no more foody photos as the girls were just too hungry to snap away before devouring their meals! Feeling satisfyingly full, we paid the bill and took a stroll along the marina walk, looking for the marina.

We walked for what seemed miles but could not find the marina anywhere, I think we may have been heading out to sea...
We eventually cut our losses and flagged down a taxi home, leaving finding the marina to another night, but meal was delicious, I would definitely recommend a trip!
